Voices of Labor?

Fact

The “independent” candidates in Kooyong, Curtin and Boothby have been revealed as former Labor Party members. [1],[2],[3]

Fact

These "independents" stem from the "Voices of…" which is a coordinated movement controlled by a small number of individuals, including Simon Holmes à Courts, which is only targeting Government MPs, despite claiming to be non-partisan.

Fact

Mr Holmes à Court has described a net zero emissions target (called for by the International Panel on Climate Change) as "woefully inadequate"[4]. Yet despite this also being Labor’s target, there is no "Voices of Grayndler" candidate targeting Mr Albanese, or "Voices of Maribyrnong" candidate targeting Mr Shorten?

Fact

Despite claiming to support grassroots democracy, there is also no “Voices of Fowler” candidate (where Kristina Keneally is being parachuted in by Labor).

Fact

Despite claiming to be about transparency, there is no "Voices of Holt" candidate targeting Labor’s Anthony Byrne who has publicly admitted to hiring ghost staff, branch stacking and paying for other people’s Labor Party membership fees.

Fact

While "independent" candidates frequently compare themselves to Warringah MP, Zali Steggall, they fail to mention Ms Steggall has voted with Labor almost two-thirds of the time. [5]

Fact

“Independent “ candidate Allegra Spender, who is running for a seat that has never returned a Labor MP…. has left open the possibility of backing Labor. [6]

The last thing Australia needs is the gridlock of a hung parliament.
